Membership

Are you interested in becoming a member of the Libertarian Party of Lawrence County (LPLC)? You can do so by becoming a member of the Libertarian Party of Indiana (LPIN). An annual membership is $25. As an annual member, your money stays local to support and grow Liberty in Indiana.

The primary purpose of the Libertarian Party of Lawrence County is to promote individual liberty and to eliminate the intervention of government in moral, social and economic affairs.

Darin Kinser

Chair

Darin Kinser is the LPIN State Central Committee District 9 Representative and has been the Chair of the LPLC since January 2021.  Darin is the owner of Justice Services of Indiana. He is the Chief of the Pleasant Run Volunteer Fire Department. Darin was the 2016 Libertarian candidate for District 44 of the Indiana State Senate and in 2022, he was the Libertarian candidate for Lawrence County Sheriff.

Michael Smith

Treasurer

Michael has been a member of the Libertarian Party since 1974.  Michael served in the U.S. Navy six years as a reactor operator on the nuclear submarine, SSBN Lafayette. He attended I.U. and the University of Washington, majoring in English. Michael has been married to the love of his life, Linda, for more than fifty years. He has published more than 400 poems, two dozen short stories including ‘Uncle Mike’s Hidden Hill Chips and Whiskey Camp’. Since retirement, Michael has spent his free time hiking, camping, hunting and fishing.


Lauren Buffington

Secretary

Lauren is a lifelong resident of Lawrence County. She works as a Dental Hygienist and earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from I.U. School of Dentistry in 2016. She loves being a mom and making memories with her two boys.  


Spike

LPLC Officer

Spike is a sworn defender of Liberty and protector of Freedom in Lawrence County. He is a fan favorite in the community and adored by children. 


Tonya Hudson

 Former LPLC Vice Chair 2021-2022

Tonya Hudson was elected the Vice Chair of the Libertarian Party of Indiana in March, 2023, and stepped down 7/21/23 to run for Lt. Governor.  She was the Organizing Chair when the LPLC became affiliated with the LPIN on 01/19/2021. Tonya is a licensed Real Estate Broker and member of the National Association of REALTORS. She was the 2020 and 2022 Libertarian candidate for U.S. House of Representatives, Indiana’s 9th District. (TonyaForCongress).  


Michael Russell

Former Treasurer 2021-2022

Michael is the proud father of a little girl and has worked at GM since 2013. He started The Southern Indiana Libertarians Facebook page and became an official member of the Libertarian party in January 2021. Michael was also the 2022 candidate for Lawrence County Council District 3.
